Get to know a little more about Ffion, Account Manager, Specialist Team

EXPERIENCES & SPECIALITIES
I’ve worked in the healthcare and market research industries for most of my career and that has given me a real understanding of working with vulnerable people. My family worked in caring roles such as nursing and the prison service, and I think that has helped me to prioritise empathy. Remembering the individuals involved in research is so important for both quant and qual work.
I’m in the final stages of my PhD in ‘The language of mental health in men’. In my career it’s been fascinating to see the similarities and difference between clinical and market research. There is so little research being done in to male mental health, so I’m glad to have been able to contribute, and shine a light on a subject that needs more attention.
WHAT I BRING TO THE TABLE
I like to think that I’m an effective communicator. My undergraduate degree was in French and Spanish and I’m fascinated by linguistics. I get a lot from supporting those that may need more inventive ways of receiving instructions and guidance when going through the market research process.
I’m a perfectionist, which definitely has as many negatives as it does positives, but I like to think it makes me determined to find the best possible solutions and, as a result, I never let things drop through the cracks!
WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT
Inclusion is very important to me. I think it is essential that those who don’t always have a voice are represented and able to share their feelings and perspectives. It’s so important that research is constructed to ensure vulnerable and under-represented groups aren’t left behind, but are able to actively and productively play a role. It’s just about having an open mind and an empathetic approach.
I also love a process! Working things through, being methodical, detail focused and exhausting all methods of finding a solution is my happy place.
And it would be remiss not to mention my dog, Twix!
WHAT I LOVE TO WORK ON
I really enjoy getting my teeth into projects that allow me to connect with people. Whether that is engaging with participants, supporting those that are digitally excluded, or working on projects from beginning to end, I get real satisfaction from positive outcomes for all stakeholders.
My dream project would be one that would allow me to bring in my knowledge around men’s mental health and all that I have learned in the market research industry.
